Jet2 flies millions of UK holidaymakers every year, mostly on short and medium-haul routes to Europe. If your Jet2 flight arrived 3 or more hours late, was cancelled, or you were bumped from an overbooked departure, UK261 entitles you to compensation of up to £520 per passenger.
How much can you claim from Jet2?
- £220 for flights under 1,500km (e.g. Leeds to Amsterdam, Manchester to Nice)
- £350 for flights between 1,500km and 3,500km (e.g. Manchester to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Antalya)
- £520 for flights over 3,500km delayed 4+ hours
Most Jet2 routes to the Canary Islands, Greece, and Turkey fall in the £350 bracket, and it applies to every passenger on the booking. A family of four could be owed £1,400 for one delayed flight.
Does it matter that I booked a package holiday?
No. Whether you booked flight-only with Jet2 or a full Jet2holidays package, the flight itself is still covered by UK261. Flight compensation is separate from, and on top of, any package holiday refund rights you may have.
Overbooked Jet2 flights
Denied boarding due to overbooking is explicitly covered, and airlines have no extraordinary circumstances defence for it. If you were involuntarily bumped from a Jet2 flight (you didn't volunteer your seat in exchange for perks), you're entitled to compensation, plus rerouting or a refund. If you were rerouted to a different UK airport than you booked, you may also be able to claim reasonable onward transport costs.
How far back can you claim?
Up to 6 years in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Old holiday delays from years ago may still be worth checking.
